MLB | On This Day, Babe Ruth Made His 1st Debut as a Red Sox

On July 11th 1914, Babe Ruth (George Herman) made his debut as a Boston Red Sox pitcher against the Cleveland Naps. Boston won 4 – 3.

Ruth played for the Red Sox from 1914 to 1919 and joined the Yankees until 1934.

Harry Frazee is known most for selling RUth to the Yankees and the famous rumor is that he sold Ruth and other great Boston players to the Yankees to finance his Broadway play as he was also a producer/director/theater agent. This is what supposedly caused the “Curse of the Bambino”.

Ruth won 7 World Series(3 with Red Sox, 4 with Yankees), 2x All Star and has numerous of record-breaking stats.
