Laheen Jones, 18, was trying to kill the 14 year old Justin Thompson as an “assignment” days before the fatal shooting.

According to Newstimes, Jones tried to kill THompson in Washington Park but missed and then on January 8 2012, he did when Thompson was walking with Trevon Phidd, 20, and Benny Turner, 21, on Connecticut Ave in Bridgeport.

Jones shot Thompson in the head and wounded Phidd. Jones’ home was shot up a few hours after Thompson was murdered but police could not connect the two.

Phidd told police Jones is from a gang in the Greene Homes projects and Thompson hung out with the East Side gang.

Jones is also being investigated with another shooting.
