The New York Giants have cut a star linebacker from their team who was a big factor for their Superbowl win in 2011.
According to ESPN sources, he will not be the only veteran or star player being cut from this team. The major problem the Giants have this upcoming offseason is that they will be $4.7M over the salary cap.
That is probably the reason why Giants cut star linebacker Michael Boley who was suppose to make $4.25M this upcoming season. Head coach Tom Coughlin released a statement:
Michael Boley was brought here as a fast, athletic, versatile linebacker. We recognized his special skills were in coverage. He’s a smart player who made some big plays for us. He was an integral part of our Super Bowl XLVI championship team. Michael played outstanding football down the stretch for us that season – ESPN
