Norwalk’s municipal attorney, Robert Maslan Jr., wants Bridgeport to reimburse its neighbor to the south for past and future workers’ compensation payments to Norwalk Police Officer Rafael Fonseca, Jr.
According to the lawsuit, Fonseca, a Bridgeport resident, suffered painful injuries to his back and shoulders when, while driving to work, his personal vehicle was struck from behind by Bridgeport Police Officer Carl Leonzi Sr.
The incident occurred Feb. 3, 2011, at 3:30 p.m. near Boston Avenue and William Street.
The police report states Leonzi was driving behind Fonseca in an unmarked Bridgeport police vehicle with his lights and siren on when Fonseca suddenly stopped. Leonzi’s car slid into Fonseca’s.
