Starting linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers has been cut today. 2 time Super Bowl champ James Harrison did try to rework his contract but I guess it wasn’t enough, and to add the fact that Harrison was out a lot due to injuries last season. The GM told ESPN today:
We have informed James Harrison that we have released him,” Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said. “James has been an integral part of our success during his years in Pittsburgh and has helped us win two Lombardi trophies during that time. We appreciate all of his efforts and wish him the best.”
Despite the fact that he had injuries and is 34 years old, I do expect a team to pick him up in free agency — lets not forget he was the Defensive Player of the Year (2008).
