This is what I call team support. And hopefully it doesn’t bite Eli Manning in the butt like it did Tom Brady (for Welker).
NYG quarterback Manning is willing to reconstruct his contract to keep one of his go-to receiver, Victor Cruz.
The Giants organization and Cruz are having a hard time reaching a deal for the restricted free agent. Manning however is not the only NYG player willing to help keep Cruz on the team. NFL reports:
“I wish I was his agent. I’d tell you more answers, and I wish I was upstairs in the office,” Diehl said Thursday on NFL Network’s “NFL Total Access.” “But like you said, Eli (Manning) would be willing to do things, I’d be willing to do some things to restructure and help other guys out, and to keep a great teammate along like Victor Cruz.
4 years with the Giants but only getting his shot to start in 2011, he has 2628 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns. In 2011, the Super Bowl season for the Giants, Cruz was averaging 18.7 yards a catch and only had one fumble.
