The New York Giants drafted a quarterback which they haven’t done really since Eli Manning. Many kind of questioned the pick but real football fans would understand that Eli will NOT be a Giants quarterback forever and why not draft a talented young player to be mentored under Manning.
“I understand that one day it will end,” Manning said, via Newsday. “You never know what’s going to happen, so you have to take advantage of it and work hard to make sure that every year that you play, you do everything you can to win another championship.
I think it’s always good to have a young quarterback who can come in and be prepared,” Manning said. “You never know what happens in this league and you always have to have quality players on your team at quarterback” – NFL.com
Manning is only in his 10th year of his career so it will be awhile, plus Manning has yet to not start or has been injured (not trying to jinx it). Very smart move by the Giants organization as we have seen the Packers do it with Farve – Rodgers, Bledsoe – Brady, Montana – Young.
And just some statistics about Nassib — at the end of his 4 years at Syracuse, he had 9190 yards, 70 touchdowns and 28 interceptions. His quarterback rating was over 116% every year. He rushed for over 142 yards last season (2 rushing touchdowns), and over the pat 4 years, he’s over 50% pass completion.
