Sometimes having the name doesn’t cut it. Jerry Rice Jr, son of Hall of Famer wide receiver Jerry Rice, went to try outs for the Baltimore Ravens and left with no contract deal.
Rice Jr. was redshirt freshman at UCLA but finally played four games in one season at UNLV bringing in 81 yards and 1 touchdown. Not impressive stats but NFL reporters state the kid had a good try out. Must not have been good enough for the Baltimore Ravens however.
But all hope is not lost as his fathers former team, the San Francisco 49ers, have contacted him and would like a try out.
A possible “like father like son” as in the same team perspective. We have to see what junior can do on the field before we can start the comparisons.
