Former James Bond Actor Says It’s “Unrealistic” For Idris Elba To Play The Part

Roger Moore, who played as James Bond seven times, has caused controversy as he told Paris Match that actor Idris Elba as James Bond would not be “realistic”.

“A few years ago, I said that Cuba Gooding Jr. would make an excellent Bond, but it was a joke!”

Then when asked about Elba:

“Although James may have been played by a Scot, a Welshman and an Irishman, I think he should be ‘English-English’. Nevertheless, it’s an interesting idea, but unrealistic.”

Fans of James Bond and Idris Elba took to Twitter defending Elba who was born and raised in London and that Moore is really trying to say its because Elba is black.

Moore took to Twitter himself: “An interview I gave to Paris Match implies I said something racist about Idris Elba. That is simply untrue. #Lost in translation.”

Elba also stated: “Isn’t 007 supposed to be handsome? Glad you think I’ve got a shot!”
