It was the battle of the top two draft picks and top two rookie quarterbacks in Week 1 (smart move NFL). The hype during most of the preseason surrounded Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston but that hype might come down as Tennessee Titans Marcus Mariota had a exceptional game compared to Winston’s disappointing performance.
Winston did come up with 1 more passing yard than Mariota but had 2 more interceptions and 2 less touchdowns than him as well.
Mariota ended this afternoons game against the Buccaneers with 209 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was averaging 13 yards per pass bs Winston’s 6. Winston had 210 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.
Game seemed to be over at half with a score of 35 to 7, Titans leading. Bucaneers were only capable of scoring one touchdown in the second and fourth quarter, final score 42 to 14.
Maybe it’s rookie nerves but hopefully this is Winston’s first and only struggling game.
