Chicago To Add Almost 1,000 New Police Officers

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said at a news conference that his department will be adding 970 new law enforcers as Chicago has passed the total murders of all last year (491) a week ago and it’s only September. If this continues, it will reach 700 murders by the end of the year.

The 970 includes 516 patrol officers, 92 field training officers, 200 detectives, 112 sergeants and 50 lieutenants during the next two years.
