Many are starting to call New York Giants’ Odell Beckham Jr. the new Terrell Owens.

Owens, a former NFL wide receiver, caused a lot of controversy from touchdown celebrations, disrespect to coaches and staff to off the field drama. According to a live interview on 97.5 on The Fanatic in Philadelphia, Owens has been trying to help Beckham “channel his frustrations”:

“Now that you have all of these eyes on you, they’re going to be on you from that point on to the rest of the season. The way he can turn it around and spin it was to go out and play. He had to use everything that was swirling around him and turn those negatives into a positive. I told him to block all that out. Channel all of your energy. Channel those frustrations.

Honestly, Odell is a smart guy.

Obviously, going down to South Beach or whatever, I didn’t have a problem with it. I went through a similar situation with the Cowboys when Tony Romo went down to Mexico with Jessica Simpson right before the playoffs.

I don’t think that’s a direct correlation to what happened on the football field. Maybe his mental focus wasn’t there, maybe he knew that if he played bad the pressure was on him and that’s why he dropped those balls. I can’t speak to that. But, he needs to understand that there are consequences to your actions.”
