The author of best-selling book ‘Edie: American Girl’, Jean Stein, died yesterday as she jumped to her death in New York City. Stein jumped from the 15th floor of 10 Gracie Square at East End Ave and 83rd St. at 10:35 a.m., according to NY Daily News. She was 83.
The building she jumped from was the same building Carter Vanderbilt Cooper, the brother of CNN anchor Anderson Cooper, committed suicide back in 1988. Cooper’s mother, heiress Gloria Vanderbilt, lived in the penthouse in that building at the time. She’s been known for the early developer of designer blue jeans.
