Deadly Virus Infects 500, Kills 16 In LA County

FOX 11 LA reports that 500 people have been infected with Hepatitis A in the last few months and at least 16 are dead. The virus has been linked to patients who are homeless or drug users. However, Public Health Department Director Barbara Ferrer claims several health care workers are not infected as well. The virus is usually spread by contaminated food and water:

“The safest thing you can do if you work with a high-risk population or if you are worried … is to get vaccinated”

San Diego started bleaching and sanitizing their streets after a state of emergency was declared.
