FOX 11 LA reports that 500 people have been infected with Hepatitis A in the last few months and at least 16 are dead. The virus has been linked to patients who are homeless or drug users. However, Public Health Department Director Barbara Ferrer claims several health care workers are not infected as well. The virus is usually spread by contaminated food and water:
