Police Involved In Abduction Of MLB Catcher’s Mother


YAHOO News reports that a 72-year old woman was abducted in Venezuela and the woman happens to be the mother of Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Elias Diaz.

Ana Soto was abducted from her hometown of Maracaibo and returned safely three days after. Six people were arrested and five of them were members of a police anti-drug team according to reports. The other person is her neighbor.

No ransom was reported even though there are reports of kidnappings for financial gain. Another MLB catcher, Wilson Ramos, was kidnapped and released two days alter after an exchange of gunfire between his captors and police.
