A deal was in the making before LeBron took his talents back to his hometown.
According to YAHOO, Kyrie Irving was recruiting Gordon Hayward, Trevor Ariza and Channing Frye when he was on the Cleveland Cavaliers. That deal fell thru when LeBron James came back. All this information is coming from Cavaliers former general manager David Griffin.
Hayward also confirms this when he spoke with NBC Sports last August, “I actually went to Cleveland on a visit when I was a restricted free agent (in 2014), and Kyrie came in and was saying how much fun it’d be if I was on the team and kinda recruited me to go there. And then LeBron came and that kinda squashed that whole thing.”
Must be true since the two are coincidentally together in Boston.
