It was only the beginning for Nick Dixon.
He just played in the Shrine Bowl which is all-star players from North and South Carolina high schools go against each other in a game. He received scholarships for football programs and committed to Wingate University on January 11. No one would have known that 24 hours later, Dixon’s beginning would come to an end.
Reports from WYFF confirms that the South Carolina high school standout died Friday afternoon unexpectedly. The Spartanburg Medical Center said there were complications during his ACL and meniscus surgery.
Dixon was loved by his teammates and his school who call his the a star athlete with a big heart. His best friend, Tyshun Moultrie, said Dixon loved everybody.
“There was never a day that he didn’t. You never heard anything out of his mouth saying I hate you, it was always I love you and I’ll be there and I got your back.”
Spartanburg held a vigil for Dixon last night and he will be laid to rest this Saturday.
