Magic Johnson stepping down as president of basketball operations came as a shock with LeBron James on the roster and a whole offseason to make adjustments to bring life back to the Lakers franchise.
Former Laker Shaquille O’Neal says his team should consider hiring another Laker legend. He’s not talking about himself either.
“There’s a gentleman across the hall, who is a born Laker. He was general manager when I was there and things didn’t work out and he kinda went away. I would like to see him get that job. A gentleman by the name of Jerry West. If anybody can bring the franchise back to where it was, it’s definitely Jerry West,” O’Neal said.
West is currently with the L.A. Clippers and we saw how things changed for them after getting rid of Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. West said last year that his decision was best for the team.
” This was not a championship-caliber team,” he said last year after the trades. “Chris Paul, a tremendous player. chose to leave here (and the Clippers granted his trade request by sending him to the Houston Rockets in a multi-player deal), and when it happens, it opens up everyone’s eyes, OK?”
Clippers clinched the eighth seed for the playoffs in the western conference.
